TEMPLE CITY — Seniors Sammy Yu and Sushi Tsai scored three touchdowns apiece Friday night, lifting Temple City High School to a 47-9 victory over San Marino High in a Rio Hondo League opener for both schools. Temple City finished with 295 yards offense — 215 rushing and 80 passing. Rams junior quarterback Riley Saxon completed 7 of 13 passes and was not intercepted. San Marino (0-5-1) scored its only touchdown in the second quarter when junior quarterback Royce Stuteville connected with Alex Varga on a 10-yard pass play. Tommy Wenzlau kicked a 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to complete the Titans’ scoring. San Marino had 154 yards offense — 63 rushing and 91 through the air. Tsai, a 5-7, 165-pound running back, scored on runs of 1, 33 and 5 yards as the Rams (3-3) opened a 27-6 halftime lead and cruised to the victory. Tsai led all ballcarriers with 136 yards on 17 carries. Yu carried only four times but gained 31 yards.
