JC roundup: Late goals keep Pierce perfect

Nicole Walberg and Elia Petrosian scored late goals Tuesday, and Pierce College’s women’s soccer team avoided an upset, pulling out a 2-1 Western State Conference victory over Santa Monica. Walberg, a freshman from El Camino Real High of Woodland Hills, scored the tying goal in the 78th minute, and Petrosian, a freshman out of Montclair Prep of Panorama City, netted the winner three minutes later. In other women’s soccer: Moorpark 4, Oxnard 1: Brooke Albert and Jayme Reed scored two goals apiece to lead the Raiders (8-1-2, 2-0-1) to a Western State Conference victory over visiting Oxnard. Albert scored in the 14th and 19th minutes, then departed with a head injury after her second goal. Reed tallied in the 74th and 79th minutes. Charlene Rodriguez scored for Oxnard in the 75th.
