Family and friends will be advised of a private memorial gathering and funeral service for Raymond P. Becker, Sr., 85, a long-time resident of Bloomingburg, N.Y. He passed away March 25 at the Staten Island University Hospital, located at Staten Island, New York. The son of Joseph and Helen Becker, he was born in Guttenberg, New Jersey, on October 16, 1932. Raymond was a member of the military police while serving four years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he became a police officer with the North Bergen Police Department from which he retired in 1986. He was predeceased by his wife of forty-four years, Louise Nacca Becker, who passed away on March 27, 2003, and his daughter Lois R. Tompkins, who passed away on Oct. 30, 2006. Survivors include his children, Raymond Becker Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Ridgefield, Joseph Becker of Staten Island, N.Y., Ellen Berg of Albany, N.Y., James Becker and his partner, Jim Branden of Staten Island, N.Y. and Michael Becker of Norfolk, Va.; his grandchildren, Victoria, William, Charles, Bryan, Rena, Erika and Luke; his great-grandchild Desmond; and many nieces, nephews and valued friends. In accordance with his wishes, Raymond’s remains were cremated and his ashes will be interred with his wife, Louise, in the Bloomingburg, N.Y. cemetery.
