(Lantz, a former Army captain, will already be on his feet for the medley of service songs, as he conducts the orchestra and choir.)Other songs of tribute will include “Hymn to the Fallen,” the John Williams work from the movie “Saving Private Ryan”; Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” written in 1942 to honor the soldiers of World War II; Charles Ives’ “They Are There!” from the World War I era; and such traditional favorites as “America the Beautiful,” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and â€œSemper Fidelis.”All veterans in uniform will be admitted free to the concert.Tickets are $15 ($20 reserved) and may be purchased in advance at the church office 626 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada or by calling (818) 790-6708, or at the door. That early church was built quite literally on faith and charity from remainder brick and an operating budget that turned just about all of its revenue into active ministry. Through 65 years of outreach, LCPC grew to 2,000 active attendees doing ministry throughout Southern California and in 40 countries around the world. In 2010 the church completed a campus expansion which doubled its physical base for ministry and kept its historical sanctuary as the heart of the new grounds.La Cañada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Boulevard, La Cañada, (818) 790-6708 or visit www.lacanadapc.org .last_img
